St. John the Divine

The Journey

St. John the Divine is leading the way in building long-term sustainable relationships in partner communities throughout Houston. They responded to hurricane Harvey by answering the call to become a church beyond their building, serving their own parish and those affiliated with partner churches and their communities. As they move into the recovery phase, St. John the Divine is focused on building relationships with other organizations, including World Vision, Agape Development in Houston’s Third Ward, and Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Houston’s Fifth Ward. They are broadening their reach by opening the doors of the church to house mission teams of up to 30 people who have a heart to serve. Led2Serve is the organizing and coordinating arm of Harvey Relief Missions, as teams from all over the country gather in Houston to stay and serve others ~ together.

Please note we can house teams, help feed teams, organize projects, or do all 3!  If you are looking for an entire mission experience, or, you simply need a convenient place to stay while serving in Houston, please inquire.

PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE MANY MORE DATES AVAILABLE FOR SPRING AND SUMMER 2018 – PLEASE EMAIL CONNECT@LED2SERVE.ORG AND INQUIRE ON YOUR DATE NEEDS!

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Agape Development

Our Mission:

At Agape Development, we are transforming our neighborhood by preparing Christ-following, independent, community leaders.

Our Vision:

DERIVING power and direction from the redemptive life and message of Jesus Christ.

LISTENING to the community first as primary stakeholders of their own restoration.

CREATING opportunity for individuals regardless of circumstances.

EMPOWERING the community for sustainability rather than dependency.

World Vision

World Vision is an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.

We pursue this mission through integrated, holistic commitment to:

  • Transformational development that is community-based and sustainable, focused especially on the needs of children.
  • Emergency relief that assists people afflicted by conflict or disaster.
  • Promotion of justice that seeks to change unjust structures affecting the poor among whom we work.
  • Partnerships with churches to contribute to spiritual and social transformation.
  • Public awareness that leads to informed understanding, giving, involvement, and prayer.
  • Witness to Jesus Christ by life, deed, word, and sign that encourages people to respond to the Gospel.

Living Paradigm

Living Paradigm is a not-‐for-‐profit group with a mission to empower people to participate in the American Dream of home ownership and healthy lifestyles through the creation of homes that are environmentally responsible, locally sourced and built, and contribute to the culture, spirit, and individuality of the community. They advocate, partner, and collaborate with residents, local community leaders, industry professionals, and universities to support and promote resident-based, place-making, regenerative design, and environmental justice. Their work promotes equitable access to sustainable lifestyles and designs for communities that have sustained impacts from environmental injustices and natural disasters. We work with low- to moderate income residents in Harris County, Texas.
