Whether students are performing at Disney, the Macy’s Day Parade, or downtown Boston during St. Patricks Day…these journeys are customized for a high school symphonic orchestra class where they will perform and also joining in a meaningful service project before heading home. During the Journey the team will visit a variety of the city’s most popular monuments and sights. In addition, during designated serve days students will also provide service to others while using their musical gifts and could even earn 15-20 community service hours for the week. If you want to make a difference in the lives of others while learning about our Nation’s history in beautiful D.C., marching along the streets of the Castle or downtown Boston, this alternative spring break trip is for you!

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time.
The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food. That’s 12% of our region’s mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, and grandparents.
